Hi, I'm Autumn
In January 2017 I purchased a message board for my kitchen. You know the ones – felt board, cute white letters, perfect for those Instagrammable moments. The first phrase I crafted: Make Moves. It’s a sentiment that had been on my mind for awhile, but I couldn’t put my finger on the exact definition. The plan was to change the message every week, but for some reason I couldn’t let it go. Later that year, I quit my cushy corporate day job, cut my hair, got a tattoo, moved into my dream apartment downtown, and opened up my own vintage shop. I guess you could say it was time to make moves.
I’m an interior designer and the owner of Make Moves Vintage, a badass vintage shop based in Toronto, Canada. I live for the hunt of hidden gems with intriguing past-lives and am usually drawn to classic barware, eclectic lighting, and all things brass. My best vintage find so far? A brass headboard from a local estate sale for $65. (Well, this chandelier was pretty badass too)
My eye for vintage treasures is a natural extension of my penchant for bold design, and I’m almost always planning, styling and otherwise reimagining every room in a home from kitchens to bedrooms and beyond. I have a love affair with arches, am mildly-obsessed with anything covered in velvet, and can often be found in the presence of all things mustard yellow. I write about my creative endeavours and spirited adventures on my website autumnhachey.com.
I live in Toronto with my beau and our three legged pup Nemo, together we are transforming #OurBadAssMainfloor into our dream apartment. My philosophy on life & design are one in the same: choose inspiration over moderation; embolden your inner badass; and be singularly focused on all of the things that make you happy. Make Moves.
